About This Organization

La Clinica de Familia Early Head Start (LCDF-EHS) is a federally funded community-based program for low-income families with infants, toddlers, and pregnant women. Its purpose is to enhance children's physical, social-emotional, language and intellectual development; to assist parents in fulfilling their parental roles; and to help parents move toward self sufficiency. LCDF-EHS also provides services to infants/ toddlers with disabilities. To qualify you must reside within Las Cruces city limits, Las Cruces Public Schools District, and meet the income guidelines.LCDF-EHS services are provided both in a classroom setting (Center-Based Services) and through regularly scheduled visits with the child and his/her parents in the home (Home-Based Services). Services to Expectant Moms are provided through regularly scheduled visits in the home or offices.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.
