About This Organization

Early Head Start (EHS) is a federally funded, community-based program for pregnant women and low-income families with infants and toddlers. Its mission is to promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women, enhance the development of very young children, and promote healthy family functioning.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

Your child is eligible for Head Start if: Your child is 3 years old, 4 years old, or 5 years old after September 15th of the school year Your family meets Head Start income guidelines Your child is eligible for Early Head Start if: Your child is 2 weeks to 2 1/2 years of age Your family meets Head Start income guidelines Pregnant women who would like their child to attend after birth How Do I Apply?
