About This Organization

YWCA St. Louis Head Start provides services to more than 2,600 preschool-age children through a network of YWCA Centers, Child Care Partner sites and our delegate agency, the Urban League of Metro St. Louis. We have provided Head Start services since 1991. Our Early Head Start program, established in 2001, serves more than 200 infants, toddlers and pregnant women at four YWCA Centers and four Child Care Partner sites.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

How To Enroll Follow these three easy steps: Step 1: Are you eligible for Head Start/Early Head Start?Step 2: Health RequirementsIt is your responsibility to provide current medical information about your child. If you have questions or need help finding medical care, please contact the nearest Head Start Center. Step 3: Contact your nearest Head Start Center.You will attend the Head Start Center that is closest to your home or work. Go to Find A Center to locate the center nearest you.
