About This Organization

Washington County Head Start / Early Head Start and Child Care Programs has been making a difference in people’s lives for nearly 40 years by providing services to enrich the lives of our Head Start / Early Head Start children and their families and by continuously striving to improve these services by the ongoing training and professional development of our staff.We serve 310 Head Start children - ages 3-5 years, and 110 Early Head Start pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age. 284 are served in 6 center based locations and 136 are served through home based services.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.
