About This Organization

Stafford Schools Early Head Start (EHS) is a federally funded program for 28 low-income families with infants and toddlers and pregnant women. Stafford Schools provides local assistance and this program provides teen parents with support to finish their high school education. The mission of the Early Head Start program is: to promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women, to enhance the development of very young children, and to promote healthy family functioning.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

How to Apply

Early Head Start Offers: Full year comprehensive services with three options combining center based and home based services to best meet family needs with highly qualified staff. THERE IS NO FEE FOR EARLY HEAD START! Program Requirements: Resident in Stafford County, proof of income, original birth certificate, immunization records, and physical examination. PLEASE FILL OUT EVERY QUESTION FULLY; BLANKS MAY LEAD TO A DELAY IN PROCESSING. PROOF OF INCOME IS REQUIRED BEFORE THE APPLICATION CAN BE PROCESSED.
