About This Organization

Preschool classrooms at Seton Hill Child Services are operated with a philosophy that serves not only the child, but also the family of that child. Each participant in the program is welcomed, and provisions are made for his/her particular needs through various screening processes. The program recognizes the parent/guardian as the primary educator of the child and uses that to ready the child for school. Thus, parents are encouraged to be an integral part of their child's preschool experience. Parent may help develop curriculum, volunteer to tell a story, chaperone a field trip, or work on projects with children and/or other parents in or outside the center. Along with their children parents grow and develop new skills at their own pace.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

Families are encouraged to apply.
