About This Organization

Semcac Head Start is a high quality preschool program serving six counties in Southeast Minnesota: Dodge, Fillmore, Houston, Mower, Steele and Winona. Our staff is family-focused—parents and teachers work together to plan activities that support each child’s growth and well-being. Services are offered to meet the special needs of children with disabilities. Eligible families have children between the ages of 3 and 5 years of age. Our focus is to serve families with limited income based on federal guidelines. All interested families are encouraged to apply. Staff will work with each family to determine eligibility.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

Families are encouraged to apply.
