About This Organization

Santa Rosa District Schools Early Head Start Program uses High Reach Curriculum. High Reach Learning Curriculum incorporates the latest research on how children learn best and builds upon authentic learning experiences. Children make their own choices and explore their own interests. Activities include adaptations and extensions that allow teachers to individualize lessons to best meet the developmental needs of each child. High Reach Learning Curriculum provides a rich learning environment that help children expand their vocabularies, find appropriate ways to express their creativity and safely discover the world around them.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

How to Apply

To apply, you must bring all of the following information:Child's Birth CertificateProof of income for ALL family members receiving income (W-2, Cash Assistance, all pay stubs for the preceding month, Social Security, SSI, Child Support, Grants, Unemployment Comp. etc.)Proof of residence in Santa Rosa County (utility bill, rent receipt, lease agreement, etc.)The following information is asked for but not mandatory:Child's Medicaid or health insurance cardSocial Security numbers for all family membersIf you have any questions or need additional information, please call 850-983-5720.
