Red Cliff Early Head Start Program Early Head Start

The Red Cliff Early Childhood Center offers Early Head Start in a home based and center based setting. The home base option serves thirty-six participants ranging from prenatal through age three in the home environment through regular weekly and monthly visits. The center based program option serves thirty-two children ranging from 6 weeks to 3 years old. The center based program has four classrooms. The Head Start Program can serve up to 50 children ages three-five years in a center based setting. The Head Start Program has three classrooms The Red Cliff Early Childhood Center also has a Kindergarten Readiness Program through the Department Of Indian Education; Ojibwe language revitalization ANA grant; a wrap-around Child Care Program; and a Child Wellness Program titled LAUNCH which is funded through SAMSHA.

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.
