About This Organization

Early Head Start (EHS) is a prenatal-age 3, infant/toddler program for low income families and children with special needs that is designed to nurture and support parents and children by building on families' strengths.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

Families are encouraged to apply.

How to Apply

Prior to entering the program the following additional items are required: • Adult TB clearance (skin test within past 2 years or chest x-ray within past 5 years) • Child TB Clearance (within past 12 months for children at least one year old) • Copy of Child's medical insurance card • For enrollment in full-day classes we require verification of 32 or more hours per week of qualifying activities (employment, job training, or school).• For child care subsidy requirements for full-day enrollment please contact thePACT EHS/HS office at 842-5996
