About This Organization

The Head Start Program is a pre-school developmental program which provides early education for three to five year old children. There are eight (8) facilities throughout a three (3) county area which includes Phillips, Monroe and Prairie Counties. Activities include a pre-school education curriculum, parent involvement, social services,health and dental screenings, mental health services, developmentally disabled services,family counseling, and volunteer opportunities.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

No child will be accepted without the following documents attached to the application:*Child's age (Birth Certificate/child must be 3 years old)*Child's Immunization record (Shots)*Child's Social Security number*Household IncomeComplete entire form and return with the above documents to your local Head Start Center.Please us blue or black ink only.
