The Head Start program provides comprehensive preschool, childcare and home-based programs for children ages 3-5. Designed to give children a head start in life, the programs provide children with breakfast, lunch and a snack; inclusive education; assistance with obtaining health services; and social support for families.

Who is Eligible?
Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements.
Pregnant women and
children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and
families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for
services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be
eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some
grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines
as well.

How to Apply
What are some of the criteria's for enrollment?Income guidelines. CAHS follow the poverty guidelines. CAHS do accept over-income families, only when there are no income-eligible families available.Age. Early Head Start accepts pregnant women and children ages birth to three. Head Start accepts children ages three to five.Interest. CAHS is looking for children and families who are interested in participating in the program.Who do we contact for enrollment?We have enrollment specialists specially prepared to answer all your questions.
