About This Organization

Early Head Start is a federally funded program serving expectant mothers, infants, and toddlers through 3 years of age for income eligible families. We have a center based program that is located at the Highland County Community Action building. We also have a Home Based program in which weekly home visits will take place in your home.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

Our program is FREE and to qualify you must meet certain income guidelines.If you are interested in finding out more about Early Head Start, please fill out the application below and return it with your proof of income to the Early Head Start office at the Highland County Community Action building.Early Head Start Child’s ApplicationEarly Head Start Pregnancy ApplicationSince you must meet certain income guidelines, you must send or bring in proof of income. You can use any of the following: pay stubs, W-2 forms, tax returns, unemployment summary, and/ or record of child support payments. If you are homeless we will give you priority for enrollment.All information will be kept confidential.
