About This Organization

Head Start If you have a child that is 3 or 4 years of age by September 1 of the current enrollment year you may qualify for either our part-day or full-day program. The focus is on kindergarten readiness, wellness, and social and emotional development.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

If you move or change your phone number after completing the application, it is your responsibility to notify Head Start.Only a pregnant mother, parent or legal guardian may sign the application.You must provide proof of your child’s date of birth with one of the following types of documents: Birth Certificate, hospital documentation, etc.Once you have completed the application, bring it to:Head Start of Lane County221 B StreetSpringfield, OR 97477-4522 What happens next?You will be contacted, either by phone or by mail, regarding the status of your application.
