About This Organization

Our Head Start and Early Head Start programs serve children from birth to age 5 and their low-income families by supplying them with a range of educational, health, nutrition and family support services to help them succeed in life. At the Head Start Community Program of Morris County, Inc. 237 children as well as pregnant women, and families are enrolled in 15 classrooms and a Home-Based Program. Our programs include 22 disabled children and more than 200 bilingual children. We have three sites: the main school building in Dover, and classrooms inside the Morris View Health Center in Morristown and the United Jewish Communities of Metro West NJ in Whippany.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.
