About This Organization

Head Start is a federally funded, comprehensive, child development program for eligible children and their family members.Children with special needs may apply.The age cut off date for the 2011-2012 Head Start program year is August 1. Children need to be 3 years old by the August 1st date. Children who are 5 years old and do not meet their Corporation’s Kindergarten cut off date may also apply.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

How to ApplyTO PROCESS YOUR HEAD START APPLICATION, THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS NEEDED:Birth Certificate - a copy is required.Immunization Record -(if child has not been immunized, you must see the doctor first).Income records from most recent full tax year (W2, tax return, public assistance)Most recent proof of income (check stub, child support record, public assistance statement, etc.)T.A.N.F.
