About This Organization

Eastern Allegheny Council for Human Services (EACHS Headstart)E.A.C.H.S. is a nonprofit, community-based organization that employs trained professional staff and works in conjunction with numerous agencies, schools, civic groups, businesses and other service professionals to implement Head Start, a federally funded, comprehensive early childhood and family development program. Head Start services children and families in Pendleton, Grant, Hardy and Hampshire counties of West Virginia. The program is licensed by the WV Department of Health and Human Services and is recognized as an accredited, high quality, early childhood program by the National Association for the Education of the Young Child

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.
