About This Organization

Head Start provides a classroom environment for children of low-income families who are three years of age, and four years of age by December 1. The program also provides educational experiences to families, which help them raise successful children.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

How to Apply

Register for Head Start?The first step in applying for Head Start is to fill out an application. Applications are available on our web site under the Head Start Program, at any Head Start Center and other locations in your community. You may also call 1-877-KIDS-577 and have an application mailed to you. After you return the application you will be put on a waitlist. When your name is on the top of the waitlist a Family Worker will call you for an appointment to enroll your child.
