About This Organization

Stamford Head Start addresses a child’s needs in all areas of development – physical, social, emotional and cognitive. The Stamford Head Start program provides health screenings completed within the first 45 days of attendance. Further, development assessments are conducted three times per year. There is one family service worker per 35 families and 10% of the available slots are for kids with disabilities. The Parent Policy Council serves as an oversight board and monthly family committee meetings are held at each location.

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services.
