About This Organization

Early Head Start We provide services for children ages 0-3 as well as pregnant women in home based and center based options. Like Head Start, Early Head Start believes parents are the first and most important teachers in the lives of their children. Experiences between birth and age fire shape a child for life, the quality of the child’s environment, social interactions, and learning experiences during those years are critical. At the time of application, families must: Live within Brown County. Have a child less than three years of age. Meet federal low-income guidelines. Be willing to participate in Early Head Start activities. Central Texas Opportunities, Inc. Early Head Start has established priorities for enrolling children based upon child and family circumstance, community needs and available funds.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.
