About This Organization

As Education Coordinator for Head Start’s zero to five year-old children, Rose Bynum is responsible for the effective planning and implementing of the curriculum, monitoring of classrooms, as well as determining staff training needs. To ensure optimal learning opportunities, she works closely with all center directors (site supervisors), monitors lesson planning and tracks ongoing documentation of children’s progress in school readiness.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

How to Apply

The Head Start program is for low income families. NOW COMES THE FUN PART--LOTS OF PAPERWORK! Notice: Our Head Start Application is online so that you can print it out to attach to all the required documentation. Your application will not be considered complete until we have the printed application and copies of all of the following papers: Child's birth certificate. Child's shot record. Proof of your family's income. That means all in the household who are working or receiving income of any kind that contribute to the child's well being. Proof of income includes 3 consecutive current check stubs OR a letter from your employer stating what you make OR your current income tax return OR your last W-2 Form. It also includes grant award letters such as Pell Grant, court letters awarding child support or LES for military families.
