About This Organization

BCA’s Head Start Program has been offering various intergenerational activities. These activities, including arts and crafts projects surrounding cultural festivals, enabled parents to become active participants in their children’s everyday learning. In particular, our Head Start program has been actively getting parents involved in the classroom activities through working as volunteers in planning and implementing classroom and program activities. A Policy Council was set up to involve parents in the program’s decision-making process and to enable parents to contribute their input and feedback.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level.
