About This Organization

Our Center Based Program:• Strives to reach our program goal to support child development in a nurturing learning environment, while simultaneously supporting families to work toward and achieve their goals.• Opens its doors to outside programs to increase access for families. We have community resource fairs and bring local agencies into the center. • Sponsors CPR and First Aide training for our families at our center, which assists our families in finding health/child care related employment.• Invites speakers from local agencies present information at our monthly parent meetings. We are also part of the Cool Culture program, which provides families with passes which grant free admission to NYC museums and cultural institutions.• Creates opportunities for families to develop social connections with each other.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.
