About This Organization

Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care's Early Head Start program is offered to children ages 6 weeks to 3. Parents/guardians must be employed or attending educational or job training. Fees are low and are based on monthly gross income.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

How to Apply

To apply for this program, please contact the Enrollment Office (795-4040 ext. 325) to schedule an appointment. Please bring to the appointment:Child's birth certificate (if mother is currently pregnant, child's anticipated date of birth is sufficient to begin application process)Social Security numbers for every member of the household4 weeks consecutive pay stubs for every working member of the household (if paid bi-weekly, 2 consecutive pay stubs)Proof of household incomeSchool schedule for any household member continuing their educationMaine Driver's license or State photo IDChild's immunization record (may be obtained from child's Doctor's Office, and faxed directly to the enrollment office, 795-4089)Maine Care Card (if applicable)TANF statement (if applicable)Copy of Child Support order (if applicable)
