About This Organization

The mission of the Norris Square Civic Association's Head Start Program is to prepare young children to enter the school system ready to learn with a solid knowledge of the Spanish and English languages, Latino culture and ethnic identity. The NSCA Head Start program is a dual language educational-social program for children between the ages of 12 months and 5 years old. Our program offers activities in a dual language immersion environment where a child's creativity and play leads them to school readiness. Applications for 2013 enrollment are still being accepted for children between 3 and 5 years old.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start generally serves children ages 3 to 5 who meet local eligibility requirements. Pregnant women and children from birth to 3 years of age are eligible for Early Head Start services. Children and families who are homeless, in foster care, or receive TANF or SSI are also eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by Head Start program staff and some families may be eligible for services if they are determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Some grantees enroll a percentage of children from families with incomes above the Poverty Guidelines as well.

Families are encouraged to apply.
