About / How to Apply

Early Head Start serves pregnant women, infants and toddlers. Head Start serves preschool children, ages 3 and 4 years old.Eligibility:At least one of the following criteria must be met in order to be eligible for either program:Family income must be at or below the federal poverty guideline, orFamily is receiving public assistance (TANF or SSI), orFamily is homeless, orThe child is in foster care, orThe child has a diagnosed disability.There is no charge for the Early Head Start or Head Start services. Early Head Start services are provided through home visiting. Head Start services are provided in a classroom setting.If you need help determining if your child is eligible, please call Early Head Start at (616) 453-4145, ext. 2288 or the Head Start location nearest you.
